What Is It?

The HabSat Ground Station Receiver is a compact, USB-powered receiver for the HabSat Flight Module. It is required for receiving HabSat tracking, telemetry, and thumbnails. It works in conjunction with our free command-and-control application, HabSat Ops.

Simply connect the Ground Station to your Windows PC via USB, launch HabSat Ops, and you're ready to communicate with your HabSat Flight Module. No driver installation is required.

Here are some basic specifications:

  • Dimensions: 80 mm x 73 mm x 20 mm
  • Compatibility: Windows 10/11

Please note that HabSat Ops currently only supports Windows.

Built for the Chase

The Ground Station Receiver is what provides the radio link between your HabSat Flight Module and HabSat Ops during your chase.

During a mission, HabSat Ops uses the Ground Station to receive live GPS position, altitude, environmental and system telemetry, flight data, and image thumbnails transmitted from the Flight Module. HabSat Ops also allows supported commands to be sent back to the HabSat during flight.

The Ground Station includes its own GPS receiver, allowing HabSat Ops to track both the Flight Module and the Ground Station during recovery.

Its compact USB-powered design makes it easy to operate from a laptop in the field or from a vehicle.

What You Need

To operate a complete HabSat system you'll need these components, all available from Midnight Make. For maximum flexibility, the balloon and parachute are optional if you already have your own.

  • HabSat Ground Station (this product)
  • HabSat Near-Space Flight Module
  • Windows 10/11 PC running HabSat Ops
  • 3ft High-Altitude Parachute (optional)
  • Kaymont 600g High-Altitude Balloon (optional)

The HabSat has been flight-tested with the recommended 600g Kaymont balloons and 3ft parachutes that we sell, and has been specifically designed with those parts in mind, but you can use your own compatible balloon or parachute if you prefer.
