Complete HabSat Guide

Overview

This is the complete HabSat Educator's Guide covering the basics of near-space balloon missions, the capabilities of the HabSat, and how to plan and execute your own missions using the HabSat. This guide is modular, so you do not need to read the entire guide, only the parts or chapters that you need.

If you are an educator, you may want to read the 2-page Educator Overview. It covers what the HabSat is, what students learn, and how the curriculum fits together. Each chapter includes exercises at the end.

Who Is This Guide For?

The HabSat curriculum is primarily designed for students in grades 6-12, with explanations and exercises written to be accessible across that range. However, the material is not limited to middle and high school use. University courses, clubs, and other advanced programs can use the same missions and hardware while extending the analysis, mathematics, atmospheric science, or engineering activities to a higher level.

The included exercises at the end of each chapter are intended as a flexible baseline. Educators are encouraged to adapt or extend them for their students.
